Atiya has more than 24 years of experience leading and coordinating community outreach initiatives at NBI and CHoNJ where she has held numerous leadership roles, including Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Director of Patient Experience and Interim VP of Community Relations. Atiya’s commitment to the broader Newark Beth Israel family is evident in all of her work, from developing a robust community of Business Resources Groups at The Beth, and organizing our Safety Coach Training Program, to leading the implementation of our Hire Newark Employment Ready Boot Camp program and the Career Ladders initiatives which created job opportunities and income stability for our staff and Newark residents, at large. Atiya’s contributions have helped to strengthen community-level approaches to improve health and access to care for the residents of Newark and surrounding communities. Atiya is currently the Chief Equity Officer and Vice President of Community Relations at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and Children’s Hospital of New Jersey. In her new role Atiya will oversee the development and implementation of employee and community initiatives that foster equity for the communities we serve. In addition, she will continue to develop strong community partnerships with the aim of improving population health and reducing health care disparities. Atiya is a Registered Nurse and received her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Administration from Rutgers University and a Master of Healthcare Administration from University of Arizona, Global Campus. Atiya serves on various non-for-profit boards, community based organizations/school volunteerism and advocacy for the community’s access to quality healthcare, safety and environmental preservation. As a board member, Atiya contributes valuable insight of community and employee engagement, healthcare advocacy and education, development, implementation and coordination of programs based on needs assessments while working collaboratively with other stakeholders in advancing the important work that board is charged with overseeing.
